It's just my bad luck. Over here in SA the CRD is by far the popular choice and I have a friend who did almost 200,000 miles in his Jeep withtout missing a beat. I think it was just a stuff-up on the assembly line

Apologies for the "one note whistle" here, but I really suspect fuel. What does your 200,000 mile friend use ? Do you have a locking fuel cap ? Has it always been a "problem child", or are the problems recent? If so, when did things start to go bad? The fact that you have 30,000 + miles trouble-free indicates something else going on in the enviorment . Diesel can be contaminated with petrol and raise hob too. Is it possible to have a fuel sample tested for contaminants? Hang in for the Rubicon...

The diesel could be a problem. I try to always fill up with the highest grade diesel, but when you venture into the remote parts of Africa you have no guarantee on the diesel that goes into the tank. So your theory on contaminated diesel may be right.

The dealer workshop decided to replace the injectors, but now one of the injectors is seized in the head. So over the weekend the head will be removed to fix the injectors.

I arranged to use the dealer's Rubi demo over the weekend but it was sold on Friday morning. Pity, I looked forward to go play with it today

see if they can make a 'water let-out' valve like there are in boats. if you let the diesel settle and separate from the water and can drain it, that should keep this from ever happening again.

Default Week 5 in the shop

So the latest is that the head and injectors will be replaced...
