Default Looking for a good chisel...

Anyone know where I can find a chisel to scrape the dried bug guts off my jeep without scratching it?

hehe, never seen so many bugs squished on a windshield, even on my old but just as boxy honda element. There's also a whole swarm of dead stuff plastered on my front grill. And I live in Philly, it's not like I was driving around in a swamp or anything...

Park it in a shady spot and thoroughly spray it with Simple Green (or similar type of degreaser) diluted 1:1. Keep it moist with this and the bugs will loosen after a while. Get a big stack of clean microfiber cloths and scrub it, replacing the cloths when the get too covered with bug parts.

That's what I do and I'm sure the bugs here in Alabama are bigger and stickier than anything up there. . . .

Might try these. Haven't used them myself, so can't vouch for them.

i'm pretty sure simple green says on the bottle that its not safe for automotive finishes... or was that the orange stuff... just make sure to check the bottle of whatever you use. We used either simple green or the other natural stuff made from oranges on our red lawnmower once, its now read with a nice big pink spot from where the stuff sat the longest.

good luck

Once you get the grill clean, coat it with a generous coating of RainX and it will be very easy to clean next time.

thanks I'll give some of those ideas a try I was going to try a power washer, but my uncle's broke :( I'm too cheap and poor to buy one of my own at the moment. I will prolly get one sooner or later though just for washing in general, I'd be too scared to bring a soft top to the car wash.. unless I can find one of those high school fundraisder carwashes and get those cute lil school girls in bikinis to clean the bugs outta my grill

if simple green isn't good for autos, is there anything else I might find at a place like auto zone? Or are you paying twice as much there for the same thing you can get in a supermarket? Would plain ole Windex do the trick if I tried to get it to soak a bit?

I use a windshield wiper fluid from rainx that has anti-bug-gut chemical in it. Useful for the Florida Everglades.

"Bug and Tar Remover".....I believe it's made by turtle wax

I've used this stuff for years and it works great.
You just put some on a rag and rub the bug. It disoves tar and bug guts.
