Minimum specs to run the Rubicon?
I have a 2007 sahara. I just put on 2.5" teraflex lift w/ nitto trail grapplers and 4.10s. I'm putting together a 3-5 yr plan to build her up, with my goal being to run the rubicon. What do I need to do to make this sahara capable of making it through that trail? No hemi, but I need help making the list and putting it in an order to start building. I still plan on making this the family vehicle so I will not be going to 40's either. If someone has put this thread together let me know. Search didn't turn up anything.....

honestly, i have seen stock x and sports with open diffs and street tires run the rubicon. it ain't easy and it still will be tough but it can be done if you take all the bypasses. having said that, i would say that the bare minimum is to have tow points front and rear, a good set of rocker guards and others joining you along for the run. to make things easier, i would say that you would want to have a 2.5" BB and 35" tires - i have run the rubicon with several people with this setup and they did just fine. the more you have the easier it gets.

Hopefully sometime in the future I'll be able to make that run
no, the rubicon is definitely a hard trail whether you want it to be or not. you can definitely make it A LOT harder if you want too. but, if you go easy on the gas, pick good lines and have a good spotter, it's definitely doable - even stock. the one thing you need to know is that this trail is 22 miles of unrelenting terrain. it's almost more mentally demanding than anything and i have seen where this has been the biggest problem for a lot of people. once you're burnt out mentally, you start picking bad lines and start to get careless. this is the reason why most people take multiple days to run the trail.

that is very intersting to read.. everytime I watch a video it looks to be some pretty large rigs out on the trail. I'll have to look at them more carefully. some of the water crossings look to be fairly deep. are there ways around those as well, or is it better to have a snorkel w/ the 2.5" kits or pick a certain season to go out?
I'm actually really shocked to hear you can make this stock. I want to get a few more mods in before I tackle this, but maybe I'll move it up to my 1-3 year trail plan.
Thanks WoL.
