UPS is the worst company for any shipping to Canada... I hope any vendor that reads this forum and ships to Canada gives us another option.

USPS
DHL
FedEx

USPS is the cheapest method for us Canadians.

Yeah, I had asked for USPS also. :-)

It's odd that they would have two different check-out procedures. Maybe you were one of the lucky ones...

Oh well.

No wheels until my JK comes in. Thanks for the tip though! I've also heard good things about National 4WD that's not too far. I'll have to drop by both those places once I'm mobile. :-)

JS and All,
We apologize that this served as an inconvenience to you while shopping with us.
Hopefully I can shed a little light on this situation and why so many things were asked of you to complete your order.

We do have an automatic system that allows authorizations and address verifications. In the case of receiving an unsuccessful attempt, we then place a phone call to our merchant services and then, if necessary the issuing bank.

In the case of your order JS, due to the dollar amount and in being an international order we were not able to attain address verification under our normal routine.

So, unfortunately for our records we do ask for a copy of a recent billing statement and ID from the cardholder to verify the order is going to the billing address.
If anyone feels uncomfortable with this we also can process orders through wire transfer or an international money order.

We assure everyone we do this for no other reason then your security and peace of mind when ordering from us.

If anyone has any other questions please feel free to contact me.

Thanks,
Frank

[snip!]
Thanks Frank. Sean was much less communicative. If he had informed me of this, I would have told him that: My alternate shipping address IS listed with my CC company, that I only ship to this address when USPS is not available during checkout, and that since you were willing to ship USPS, you could have shipped to my billing address instead. No mess, no fuss. Instead, Sean kept on course and would not explain these extreme requirements. One of my big concerns with faxing this kind of info, is knowing how it's handled and disposed of (security and privacy wise).

Anyway, hopefully this will allow you to explain your policies a little better to future Canadian buyers.
