what if you were running a soft top?! but seriously, i would at least hang it from my mirror. keeping it up there would be really cool is you us some marine grade silicon around it, either black or clear that'd be awesome it'd stop some vandals too if they see a bulet coming through the hard top thatsb bad-ass. glad you're okay though, there have been case where people die from random bullets falling from the sky

My .02 is that the bullet is some sort of boat tail hollow point.
Two reasons;
1:The taper @ the base indicates a boat tail.
2: There is no visual lead @ the tip indicating it is not a typical soft point type hunting bullet. There is also deformation of the tip indicating a soft spot, a full metal jacket is typically designed for little expansion esp. @ low velocities. However, a hollow point has a soft lead free tip so that would be my opinion.
Finally, as for size, without something for reference (a ruler would be best) it is difficult to determine the diameter or the bullet and even the many bullets of identical diameters can be fired from several differnt cartriges and weapons. Ie. 7.62mm=.308=30-06=30-338=30-378=30-30and all other nominal .30 and .300 calibers.
But thats just my .02

Whenever and however you decide to preserve the freedom top and bullet would you be able to make a write-up for it?

Now that is something to start a conversation around the campfire. You don't need a rabbit's foot when your drivin that kind of lucky. You have to save that one for the mantel. It does look like a celebratory fire up and down shot to me also.

Also I just want to say that I was nowhere near your house this week. DPMS LR 308 AP4 (Eugene would be proud)
Now you know what those black rubber things are really for on your hood.

That’s easy

Step 1 live in Texas.
Step 2 live close to some redneck dumbass that shoots high powered rifles into the sky.
Step 3 preserve bullets in hardtop with polyurethane.

What are the odds of this happening again? I think I have better odds playing the lottery.

That looks so cool it makes me want to go out, buy a Freedom Top, then pray that a bullet hits my JK. You need to keep it.
