Need Help with getting her home
Hey guys (and gals)-
Went to test drive an 08 Unlimited Sahara- red rock/khaki- hard top. Like I said, went to drive it--- took it around the dealers "loop" and then let the wife have her go. Got back to the dealer, wanted to try out the freedom panels---needless to say, took both fronts off, told the salesguy "later" and took it for another loop again.
Wife loved it-- even thought it was great that with the freedom panels off our 20 mo old was still able to sleep in the back seat between the tinted windows and the remaining hard top.
So, we talked and gave them the go ahead to work us a deal. Here is where it gets Looooonnnnngggg.. for us and them anyway. We have an 05 Pacifica Touring- loaded..nav, RES, leather, the works. problem is we owe like 11,400 and with all the things going--a 66k mile Pacifica it going for about 9k. So we have some money to make up. Credit is good- high 600's lower 700's. Problem is we want the payment below $400...even if we go to the max on 84months (we will pay it off before, just need a lower payment for now until wife starts teaching full time).
So..here is my question- they list the Sahara at 26995. Funny thing I saw the original sticker was only $30,425. Canthat really be on a yr old vehicle with just under 11k on the clock? Seems we should be able to negotiate a better deal on a new? I really like it---so does the wife. Problem we keep coming up with is that we might be crazy getting rid of the Pac?
Any help is appreciated. I think I'll post more specifics q's separately.

um you're getting robbed at that price for a used sahara. check out this threads

you should be getting more then that off a new sahara, I've also heard carmax buys cars at pretty good price, might want to try that

I've seen 2dr, 07 Saharas in Rescue Green with 20k on them, on the lots for mearly $2000 less than what I paid for my 08 4 door in R.G.
The resale value of JK's is so far, pretty impressive.
If it's Rescue Green.. Mortgage your house!
Good luck!!

I have never regretted getting the JK. I have never regretted the upgrades I made. I DID regret getting rid of the YJ and going "yuppie" with a Chevy Avalanche. That mistake has been rectified.
Barring getting a lemon (rare, but it happens with any vehicle), I'll bet you'll have the time of your life with the Jeep. I would be willing to bet you'll remember this vehicle, good or bad, more than any other vehicle you'll ever own - unless it's another Jeep.
Good luck - let us know what you decide!!
Someone brought up Carmax.
Just as an example, here are two 2008 Saharas at Carmax with about the same mileage for around $24K.

Carmax sells new jeeps at their Norcross, Ga. store. You can buy a new X with the 24 S package and dual tops for what you're talking. Also right now a current Chrysler owner gets another $1000. off the current price. I flew to Norcross and purchased my Unlimited. I got 5 times the discount I could get locally. It cost me $140.00 to fly down, 8 hours to drive back to Richmond. Carmax picked me up at the airport. 1 1/2 hours later I was headed home. You can trade in your vehicle at a local carmax and pick up your new one in Norcross. New Jeeps cannot be shipped out of Georgia, they must be picked up.....Worked for me and saved me over $3500.00.

Just this week I had a friend buy an new(not sure 08 or 9) Jeep green Sahara auto Hard Top and everything else Sahara's have for 28500. They also traded in a car(jetta) but did get payoff for it.
Sounds like the price is plenty steep, should be lots of room to work with.
Good Luck

I mentioned carmax to sell his pacifica to them, not buy a jeep from them, they've been known to give a better price then trading it in when you buy your jeep.
I definitely thinkg you should get a better deal and might be able to find a new one for about that price
