Default Need some quick help!!

If I remove the rear shocks on my 08 jeep, will it cause the body to fall a bit or will it stay the same? WHAT im trying to ask is, do I need a jack to hold up the jeep if i remove the rear shocks, or will it stay up on its own....I am going to install a new set of rear shocks and I was a bit nervous to remove the shock while I was under it.

Thanks

Are you installing a lift or replacing shocks? Either way, this write up shows ya where to place jack stands. http://project-jk.com/jeep-jk-write-...ation-write-up

You can do them both at the same time. Shocks do not hold anything up, or down. They just dampen the action going up or down. The springs are what hold it up. Now it you had shocks with springs which you can always see on the outside of the shock then they can boost the rear up an inch or so, and that is all you would lose in that case.

SO go ahead, live on the wild side, take off both shocks at the same time.

X2, I only do one at a time because I can only do one at a time. A jack might help getting the bottom of the shock on if the Jeep is not on stands. I put a chisel on jack and then the bottom of the shock on the chisel. Jack it op then slide the chisel into the shock mount. The chisel then can be used to lift the shock to line up the bolt holes. Some shocks you can compress by hand easy enough a jack is just less work.

OOOHHH NOOO, don't take the shocks off at the same time! This will cause your CPU to interface with the ESP/ABS central command div control module and deliver a bi-lateral phase condition to the barometric pressure surrounding your jeep and cause it to.........

stand still and do nothing. Re-place your shocks and have fun dude.

Don't forget about the flux capacitor. It could cause it to hyperinflate allowing the nuclear core heater to meltdown and cause a catastrophic....
