Default new 2007?

hey
I am looking to buy a JK, and have been going back and forth, new or used, etc

i have seen 3 new 2007 on differnet lots, 2 are 2 door saharas, one is a base 4 door?

my question is with the 09's coming out how much of a deal should I expect if I pursued a '07

is there any big disadvantages to buying a new old vehicle ( or is it old new)

thanks for your help and opinions
steve

Hey. I don't post much, but I lurk a lot. From what I have read the 2007 models had 10 fold the issues the 2008 models did. Now I know you only hear the bad things and rarely the people that have had no problems so you could just as well get one with no problems at all. Things to consider...

No lifetime power train warranty.
~ I plan on keeping my 08 X 4-door forever so this is quite an incentive to me

Leaky tops were rampant for 07 models. Almost non-existent with 08 models.

That was the major problem with 07...leaky tops. BUT not all 07 models from what I have read. Especially the later manufactured ones. And if these are still on a lot they are most likely the later manufactured ones.

All in all you should be getting a great deal. I don't know of any dealer that wouldn't be going madd having an 07 on his lot with the 09s showing up. Hit them up for at least a few thousand off. Feel free to walk away...they will call you in a week begging you to come take another look.

I believe that the lifetime warranty began on a certain date, and it didn't matter if your jeep was made before then or not. If you bought it after that date, you had the lifetime, so you should actually get the lifetime warrenty.

You will still get the Lifetime powertrain if it is a new never titled 07.

You will get 4.10 gears in the 07 if it has the tow package.

I guess I must be a lucky one then. I bought a 07 rubi this 4 months ago with 20 000kms on the clock and have had no problems with it...everythings been perfect.

Buying an 07' with the 09's already arriving... I wouldn't think 3- 4k off sticker would be out of the question, would it?

I would think closer to 4K-5K for a 2007. Last week our local dealership was offering 11% off sticker on the 2008 JK. That's nearly $2800 on a $25,000 sahara.

I understand I will get the warranty with a never titled 07. And will be getting the tow package with 4:10. So should I try and get new over used?

The JK 2 door has $4k off sticker written on the windshield, .

I guess I need to talk more to the dealers and find out where they are at.

I have been looking and kicking tires for about 2 months but can't make a decision

If they have $4K off on the windshield, they will probably take at least $5K off if they think they can make the sale.

Start at $6,000 off. Two years old already. It doesnt hurt to ask, they gotta want to move that thing. These are not the hot item they were two years ago with gas prices doubled etc.

I got mine in 06 and really haven't had many if any problems. A TSB computer flash here and there but thats it.
