Default New to the forum and got a question about winch.

I just got my first jk wrangler about 2 months ago and I will never drive anything else. My jeep came with a warn xd 9000i winch and when I use the remote I can hear clicking noise but the winch won't engage. Was hoping maybe someone has had this problem before and can point me in the direction to fixing it. Much appreciated.

Check the winch to make sure it's engaged. There should be a little lever that moves. It may or may not have writing on it depending on how old the winch is. If it does, it'll say free spool and engaged or something along those lines. If you've done that already it might be something internal which is where one of the more knowledgeable members should be able to chime in.

Yeah its fairly new and I made sure it was in engaged but it just makes a clicking noise when u you use the remote switch so I'm assuming it's something internal. I can Un spoll the cable by hand when it's in free spoll so I know it's not locked up.

It will click for a few reasons.
1. Bad solenoid
2. Not enough power to the winch (weak battery)
3. Overheat
4. Fried motor

Contact Warn directly. They will provide you with troubleshooting procedures. Their support is superb, which is one of the reasons one buys a Warn over a much cheaper Chinese import with no support staff or repair parts availability.

X2, they have been fantastic for me and sent me free parts on a used Warn. Didn't have to provide a receipt either.

My warn winch on my Can-am busted last year and clicked, but would not engage. I turned out to be a gear that broke. It was a very simple fix.

When wiring my winch this past weekend, I had a poor ground. I would try to use with the remote and I'd get a click but no winding. Found a better ground and it works like a champ.

I replaced the solenoids and still get a clicking but it will not engage. Anyone know of any helpful videos or websites to go to that can help walk you through checking the motor?
