New JKU has hood damage
On 11-2 I ordered my JKURX. It came in yesterday with significant damage on the power dome hood. The dealer is saying it came that way off the truck and is blaming the delivery guy. I don't know if they had the driver sign anything or not, I will find out today. There are three dents, one of which actually punctured the metal. My question here is has anyone else had something like this happen? What did you do? How long did it take to get it taken care of?
I am weighing my options:
1. Have the body shop fix the hood (not likely going to choose this option).
2. Wait for a new hood, which is what I'm requesting(this could take a long time which is the reason why I'm asking if anyone else has experience with this).
3. Order a different Jeep and let this be someone else's problem.
I have an appointment with the body shop manager today to see what he says. He will then have to contact Chrysler with pictures to see what they will let him do. I am told that with the holidays coming up it is unlikely to get an answer from anyone until January. I also am anticipating a finger pointing match while everyone drags their feet to the finish line. I'm not sure I want to suffer through that.

Wait and see what they say..... If you do have to wait for a new hood then I would ask for a few other options.
1. Want some compensation for having to wait... Maybe an extended warranty.
2. Have them pay for a hood from an aftermarket retailer that can get the hood much quicker.
3. Give you a loaner jeep to drive until your new hood comes in.
Best of luck and let us know what happens.

you can buy a powerdome hood right now for 500 dollars from the mopar online sites with free shipping and get it in 6 days so if the dealer gives you bullshit about not knowing when they can get a hood, than they are totally bullshitting you because they dont want to fix it, you should be getting a brand new hood and I wouldnt accept anything else, also, I would inspect the rest of the vehicle thoroughly now because if they fix the hood for you and you come back with something else in a week they wont want to hear it and willl pretend you did it because all dealers are pieces of shit, also, sounds like you ordered a rubicon x? want to sell me your front and rear bumpers on the cheap?
The dealership is saying they have to wait for Chrysler to authorize a new hood. I was told that whatever Chrysler approves is what they can do. I was also told that whatever I decide, they are in my corner. The GM is friends with family members and I believe he will do what he can to make this right.
Dealer called and said the body shop manager is recommending a new hood. It would cost more to fix it than replace it. Now we are waiting for the approvals rom Chrysler to actually replace it. I'll have my fingers crossed.

So the driver already bought your new hood. So now it is up to you to demand for your factory replacement hood. That was paid for by the driver.
It's probably not the dealer that is dragging their feet. They have to deal with the customer, face to face. But if you've ever had to deal with insurance, then you know what the problem is. Good luck and don't back down from what is rightfully yours.
Sounds like you're already moving in this direction, but I agree that your best course is to simply have them replace the hood with a new one. You bought a new Jeep and you deserve to get new parts, not 'repaired' parts.
Good luck - I'm sure they'll make it right.

Would not take a repaired hood.
I would go with whatever takes less time. New hood versus new Jeep. With a new hood, you have to worry about them matching the paint. With a new Jeep everything matches.
Personally, a damaged brand new vehicle, I would make them order me a new one. What's a six week wait?
I have to get the left side of my Jeep repainted cause some scumbag decided to break in and pop the lock cylinder and destroy the door. My biggest concern is paint matching. Ahole got a pair of sunglasses and a Polar Bear cooler. $200 worth of stuff and $900-$2000 in damage depending on whether door has to be replaced.
