New JKU has hood damage
Would not take a repaired hood.
I would go with whatever takes less time. New hood versus new Jeep. With a new hood, you have to worry about them matching the paint. With a new Jeep everything matches.
Personally, a damaged brand new vehicle, I would make them order me a new one. What's a six week wait?
I have to get the left side of my Jeep repainted cause some scumbag decided to break in and pop the lock cylinder and destroy the door. My biggest concern is paint matching. Ahole got a pair of sunglasses and a Polar Bear cooler. $200 worth of stuff and $900-$2000 in damage depending on whether door has to be replaced.

They got approval to get a new hood. With any luck I'll be driving it before the end of the year. I think I'll ask if I can have the old one as a souvenir to hang on my garage wall, worst they can say is no.
Transportation damage is actually fairly common. Most people never know about it because special order vehicles, or pre sold vehicles are fairly rare as well. Dealers just get it fixed and throw it on the lot, and they're not required to disclose any of that to you.
What sucks for you now is you're going to have aftermarket paint on your new hood, and probably fenders too if they need to blend to match. Chryslers factory paint is impressively durable. I wish I could get a hold of whatever clear coat they're using for my own body shop.

Bought a black 2014 unlimited at night....found a paint issue on one door the next morning in the light. Dealer was able to fix it, I can't see any difference. Black is easy to match tho...
I work at MSC and we ship millions of packages a year. Any shipment you get, before you sign, look at all packages and if the box is damaged, open it up and see if your product is damaged. If it is refuse the package and DO NOT SIGN for it! Immediately contact the shipper. Take pictures too.
Don't let the delivery guy rush you, it is his job to get the package signed for and leave, but no delivery if the package is broken or contense is damaged.

Updatable - the dealership put a new hood on the Jeep and their body shop had to paint it. I went to take a look and the paint did not match correctly. So, I ordered another one. 6 more weeks of waiting.

By law, if the damage is over $1000(I think this number is correct) it HAS to be disclosed to the customer. Sure not all dealers are in the up and up, but most are.
Dealers have refused units for damage(not from me, I have zero damage) and the car gets repaired and sold at auction as used
It was the body shop at the dealership. For some reason they don't use the same kind of paint as the factory. It seems like in cases like this they could get the new part shipped from the factory already painted with the same paint and same method as it does coming down the line, but I guess not.
I have to dispute your claims. I've been in the auto transport business for 20+years. Damage rates are actually pretty low, even with the manufacturers going to lowest cost carriers in recent years. Light scratches here and there, which can be buffed out are normal, not more extensive damage that means painting.
