Default NO Incentives?

About to pull the trigger on a new JK. I go to the dealer and I'm informed that there is no longer:

$750 Owner Loyalty
$1000 Cash Back
0% Financing for 3 yrs

and of course the $2.99 fuel doesn't apply.

So there is no incentives currently or in the near future?

That blows. Was kinda counting on the 0%, and the $750 back wouldnt hurt either.

Anything avail or coming soon?

I guess your area has removed the incentives

You should be able to work them down yourself to something in the area of invoice price.

Good luck

Soon they'll be trying to clear out the 08 models, so that could be an opportunity for a good deal.

Just drove by the dealer where I bought mine last year and he has at least four times as many JKs as back then. I don't think that's because he wants it that way. Bargain. Bargain hard. Gas prices are killing sales of pick-ups, SUVs and, yes, Wranglers. Let the dealer know that you know that.

And why doesn't the $2.99 gas deal apply?

Jeep Wranglers best selling season is the Summer which is why you seldom get good deals on them during the summer season. The reason you see more of them at dealers is not necessary because they don't sell, but because the 2008 remaining Wrangler's stock is being diluted to all the various dealers in America to make room for the next year models (2009 in this case) stock which start production during the summer. Also since the Summer is generally good for the Wrangler, dealers request more stock. Last, although I do agree that gas affect bigger car, I think it mostly affect huge SUV such as the escalade, H2 etc... smaller SUV are less affected. Also a lot of people buy wrangler's as a second/weekend car. Furthermore, because the off-road 4x4 market is such a niche market they are probably less affected. If the outdoors is part of your lifestyle, the choices of off-road able vehicles are not that wide, and none of the competition offers anything that have good mileage.

my 2c.

Hmm. I think you're seriously underestimating the impact of gas prices on vehicle sales, and especially Jeep sales. All you have to do is look at what's been decimating the stock market value of the auto manufacturers lately (Hint: Downgrading of all three by Moodys due to dramatic drops in SUV and pick-up sales). Also, I've never seen at the OKC dealer to which I referred this many JKs. Never by a factor of two or three. They are having problems selling them, and anyone buying should take advantage of that fact.

Mark, I can't argue with your statement which is further reinforced by the fact that Chrysler sales, even for the Wrangler are down. I think, however, that what I was trying to say, is that if you need to buy a car with strong off-road capabilities, there aren't that many choices, and that gas mileage wise, the other choices are are not much better. Very specialized market usually suffer less. For instance if you were a carpenter and needed a truck for your business, no matter what the price of gas is, you would still need to use a truck and all truck have fairly similar MPG. The market that suffer most is the commuter market.

Maybe what we really need is a "jeep /Mini hybrid" that can accommodate 35" with a 4" lift ?

As far as the stock market for American car makers, their stocks have been going down way before the gas started going up. Actually the latest drop is nothing compare to the last 7-8 years, when gas was still cheap.
