Default Is this normal?

Two things that seem a little strange to me.

A. Whenever I open the door, a few seconds later there is a humming noise similar to a power antenna going up or down. It only lasts a few seconds but I cannot figure out where it comes from or what it would be for.

B. When starting the jeep, I turn the key and it almost seems like a slight delay before it actually turns over. It is almost like it is reading the key, then it executes starting. Either way, it certainly isnt an instantaneous turn key hear starter...there is the slightest of delay.

Are these normal or strange gremlins????

I've heard the humming once or twice too. Seems to be coming from the power outlet area. Not the cigar lighter the other one.

I hear the noise too. I sometimes hear the noise of the rear washer priming too, but it's a completely different sound.

The delayed starting I have heard is because of the sentry key. The computer reads it to make sure it is the right one and then allows the vehicle to start.

At first I thought it might be related to the radio but I tried turning that off and it still happens. I open the door, 2 seconds later i hear "hummmmmmm" then it stops.

Strange indeed.

Nice to hear my starter isnt completely abnormal.

I am pretty sure the humming sound is the radio. I believe it is the cd player. My dodge truck does it too. Could be wrong though. I always thought that is what it was in my truck and when the jeep did it I assumed it was the same thing.

I thought about the cd player but that seems so odd if the power is off and there is no cd in.

I guess I will just ignore it since it is obviously not anything inherently wrong with my jeep.

Thanks so much for the replies!

If you look at the side of the radio, there is what looks like a CPU fan. It could just be that running.
