Six months ago I damaged a valve stem and had it replaced at NTB. It leaked every since but it started off very slowly and I didn't end up finally dealing with it until today. I was in a different city so I took it to Costco to find the leak and fix it. It was the valve stem leaking so we planned to go ahead and fix it. Costco discovered that my tire was torn down to the belt where the bead is formed and they definitely didn't do it while dismounting. I saw them and they were very careful. NTB last touched it before Costco. I understand it's difficult to prove but my circumstantial evidence points towards NTB damaging my tire (and improperly fixing my valve stem) when I took it in 6 months ago. Trying to get NTB to make the situation right but they're fighting me. Opinions?

Six months is a long time to wait... I don't think you've got much of an argument now.

I know. It's on me for not dealing with the leak sooner but it started out so slow (like filling once a month) and I so I wasn't even sure it was leaking - could have been the weather, direct sunlight, etc. Once it got bad enough and I actually had time to deal with it, I did. I care less about the leak and more about the fact that I now have to replace a duratrac. I know it was a while but they touched it last before Costco, it wasn't even aired down either. Just really frustrating, I'm all for fixing things that I break but I didn't break this, Costco didn't either. I took it to Costco because I am now living in a different town (I'm from Cleveland but go to school in Columbus). Brought in to NTB in Cleveland over my winter break now and they're not helping so far.

You have 2 things going against you. The 6 months and someone else has worked on it since.

Even though you know Costco didn't do the damage, try convincing the NTB management that.

It's one of those things you are going to have to just put in the "learned something" column.

I mean you're right. But at the same time I've been living in Columbus and I didn't think it was worth the special to drive to Cleveland to have NTB warranty their valve stem repair. I'm here now visiting, but the leaking tire was on the ground and I wanted the leak fixed before I drove to visit my parents in Cleveland. I could have swapped it to spare and given it to NTB after I got in town but this should have been a quick easy fix before leaving.

Remember, I didn't know there was any damage to the tire. I thought I would just eat the NTB valve stem and let Costco repair it since I live close by in Columbus and move on with my life. NTB is going to work with me on it out of good-will to help some and that seems fair to me, since I understand I can't prove the facts.
