OBX Beach Access?
Does anyone know if I would be allowed to access the beaches with my jeep around the beginning of November. My girlfriend wants to go to OBX in a couple weeks for her birthday but didn't know if it would be worth going this time of year. Never been there and we aren't the type of people to lay on the beach all day lol so thought it might be good to go off season. Any information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I was thinking maybe corolla not sure I have never been there so kinda clueless right now lol I guess where there would be the most stuff to do and still be close to beach access. Any suggestions?
Corolla is as far North as you can go. Off road beach access is free, sand is usually fairly well packed and you can see the wild horses. However, lodging and food choices are minimal. Most folks do weekly home rentals. If you want peace and quiet this is a good choice.
If you are looking for a little more action, restaurant choices and chain hotels you want to look around Nags Head or Kill Devil Hills. However, it is about a 40 minute drive up to Corolla to hit the beach.
If you go further South you can off road on the Cape Hatteras National Seashore but will cost you $50 for a one week permit. There are lots of independent motels to choose from. Do your homework though because there are some real rat holes that you will want to avoid.
The good news is rates will be low no matter where you choose. If you like to fish this is the time of year to do it and it doesn't get better than driving your Jeep out on the beach to find your own fishing spot!
