OFFICIAL "Have you timed yourself....?" THREAD
With all the practice everyone is getting by doing certain things so often, Jeep owners must have become experts on "Jeep Surgery" removing and replacing every Jeep body panel imaginable...
Has anyone timed themselves to perform the various tasks....?????
- Put down the soft top
- Put up the soft top
- Take off the hard top
- Put on the hard top
- Take off all 4 doors
- Change all 4 tires/rims
Add any other things you believe deserve noting!

Hard top, all 4 doors, and doors off mirrors no more than 45 min on or off with breaks. I am sure we could get it faster but why rush? Now currently it takes me about 2 min to remove and 5min to replce the safari top.
I started doing all of that on June 5th, so it's a month and a half, so far, and I feel like I haven't even layed a hand on my Jeep yet.
Oh yeah, dang, it ain't been built yet, never mind.

haha...
I just got my Jeep on Tuesday, and the 2-3 times I have taken my soft top on and off have been quite a 2-manned mission.
I have yet to try it solo as per the instruction manual.
With two guys, it takes me about 5 minutes to take it down and about 10 to put it up.
Practice makes perfect......I guess.

5 minutes to take the front (2) panels off the hardtop ( myself )
ALL MORNING to remove the entire hardtop (me and my son ) and placed it inside the porch...grrr no garage yet...
7 minutes to remove all windows, fold the soft top and pack it in the pouch.
same to put it back on by myself.
2 seconds to roll all four windows down...

I haven't timed anything individually yet, but it takes about 20-25 minutes for the whole process:
- Revome freedom panels
- Remove rear hard top section
- Remove the 2 doors
- Add Autozone mirror.
I use two 12' rachet straps and two 6' tie-down straps to remove the hard top. It works pretty well, there are no boards to mess with and I can drive straight out of the garage without opening the rear gate.
I'm looking forward to going through the process tonight once the sky is finally finished threatening rain!

This is a good one....
Down - first few times - taking it down took close to 8 minutes including packing the windows into the cloverpatch and putting the top back into the shipping cover for protection.
Now - seems like that process always takes place with someone "helping" - whether one of the kids - or the wife - or a neighbor - and there is usually at least one adult beverage involved. Time now is close to 30 minutes!
Up - in the beginning - close to 12 minutes - never had ANY help and was usually doing something out of order. Then the wind storms and quick rain bursts started and now we did it in just under 6 minutes - I had help from someone who'd never touched a Jeep during the tournament and the smarta$$ assistant timed us while we were getting soaked.
I think it pretty much depends on the motivation / craziness surrounding us at the time.
