Default Oil consumption...

I have 7917 miles and today I did my second oil change. I used the Mopar filter
( bought it just in case the Fram was not doing it's filtering.. on the last change) and used Mobil 1 for the second time.
I noticed that in I only had 5 Qts. of the used oil to take back to the recycling place ...is that a Jeep thing as I have been doing all my oil changes on all my cars have never had any of them consume any oil at all.....
Any thoughts...

BTW my fat fingers hit the m instead of the n.....consumption

Hmm. I don't have enough experience with Jeeps to say if it's a Jeep thing or not, but my JK doesn't show any oil consumption at all at each oil change (11,000 miles thus far). However, I've heard with other brands that they don't call it "excessive" oil consumption until it exceeds around 1qt/800-1000 miles.

Thanks for the reply Mark, indeed BMW calls it normal for its vehicles to "burn/ use" a Qty every oil change, I have a TL which I push to red line on numerous occasions and always has the 4.5 qt level at every change and now I'm hitting 30k....well I hope the it doesn't get worse, and I baby the JK..... , maybe I should "beat" it ..uh?...

Haven't noticed it on mine yet, but I'll keep a look out. How often do you have yours off-camber wheeling? That would certainly increase the burn rate.
Also, Mopar filters aren't much better than Fram (or at least weren't), but both will work. The cleanest are Mobil1, other expensive filters. Many of the midgrade filters are the same as the cheap ones, so you aren't getting any benefit until you're spending a ton.

I have yet to go off road ... , so far my JK is my daily driver and that's it, on the filter note, I bought the Fram GT and when checking for leaks I noticed that there was a small drop dripping from the filter area, so i tighten it up a bit and decided to buy the Mopar in case that problem continued, but the "leak" stopped as I made sure to chek it every day for a week, so this time I decided to use it, IMHO Super Tech or ST are a good brand to buy and are inexpensive at $1.99 to $2.19 at Wallymart...and the Mopar filter was close to $8....at the stealership....

Did you check the level on the dipstick prior to draining?

I did and it was low, and if you have checked your dipstick is not marked to show you how much oil is left but you have this "zone"where it's OK to drive...a safe area...mine was low....
