Default Old newbie here. Hi all!

Hi, here's my story.
I bought a new white 05 wrangler rubicon back at the end of 04, I beleive it was. I had that jeep for about a year or so. I never fully used the ability of the rubicon but I did get it into some good mud and a few steep hills where I used the lockers to prevent spin. I was dissapointed in the ability of the stock mtr tires in the snow but I know the Mtrs are a good all around tire. I just remember having to have my dad pull me out of the snow with his 04 jeep wrangler willys edition. Anyhow at the end of 2005 I found myself becoming more of a family man and using the jeep (my only rig at the time) to go grocery shopping with my girlfriend (now wife) and my son became quite difficult. I remember the day I decided to go ahead and trade the jeep off for a bigger rig. I was at all mighty despised wal mart and we had just brought the groceries out to the jeep and I started packing the groceries in the back just like a game of tetris. I finished that and swung the gate shut and KASPLOOOOSH! I packed everything in so tightly that when I swung the gate shut a bit of a 12 pack case of dr. Pepper was smashed causing several cans to puncture and explode soda everywhere. Soda was literally running out of the back of the jeep into the parking lot. I was also sprayed. At that point I was fed up with the little jeep and soon after I traded it in on a new 06 ram 2500 diesel crew cab with a huge bed box to fit overflow groceries and what not. I drove the pickup for awhile and soon I longed for the little jeep again. I loved the jeep style and offroad ability. The truck was nice but it was no jeep. I still had the problem of the jeep being too small for my little family so I kept driving the truck. Then one day this amazing thing happened. I was online checking out the latest jeep wranglers on the jeep website and there it was! The new 2007 Jeep Wrangler 4 door. I fell in love with jeep wrangler all over again. It was like the designers had been spying on me and built the 4 door just for me. I sold my truck as soon as I could which was not long because my ole grandpa needed a new truck so he bought mine and I went to my local dealer and ordered myself a new 2007 Jeep wrangler rubicon with all the bells and whistles. The only option I couldn't get was the navigation which I guess wasn't available until later on in the year. I waited the longest few weeks of my life and finally I was driving my baby! Oh how good it was. I could do it all. Grocery shopping was no problem even when fully loaded with the family. Offroading was a blast. I did it. I had the perfect all around Wrangler.
Some time went by and my wife got a job and was working full time and she always had the jeep cause I drove a company truck for work and she needed the jeep to commute to work. Everything was going great so we decided to buy her a car so I could have my jeep back. So we looked around at used cars and didn't find much that was worth a darn. We kept looking and looking and ended up going with a new ford mustang v6 base model that was a new car but was reduced in price due to sitting on the lot next to the newer year model. So then we had the two vehicles for a bit and it was just awesome. She had hers and I had mine, it was more than perfect. But then the poo hit the fan and I was laid off from my job. The bills started stacking up and soon we were searching for a way to lighten our load financially. The only thing we came up with was to trade our two vehicles in and just have one vehicle payment. We still wanted to have a 4x4 and roomy. We were thinking of the future and our family is into dirtbikes and quads so we were thinking once I went back to working maybe we would buy a toy hauler rv. So we thought we should have a vehicle to haul something like that so we ended up sacrificing the poor red rock crystal pearl 4 dr rubicon and the flame red mustang for a left over model silver dodge ram megacab 2500 diesel which started out from the salesman to save us 400$ a month but in the end was more around 200$ a month on our bills. After a bit of time went by I realized that I made a horrible decision and I felt like I might as well have shot myself in the weiner with a 45 caliber automatic pistol over and over again. Thinking back on it for the mesly 200$ a month I saved I could have cut firewood and sold it to make that much $. Or mowed alot of lawns, I don't know but something. I just wished I had my red Rubi. The megacab was a very nice truck but it was no 4dr rubicon wrangler. Time passed on and things changed as they always seem to do. I went back to work full time and things were good. My wife decided to go to a college that was over an hour away. It was a good college so I approved, plus the pay increase over her previous job would be great for our little family. So we set out to find a way to get her there and back daily safely and economically and driving the diesel megacab was not that. I talked with my mom and dad and they had a ford pickup that they were wanting to get rid of and they were interested in the megacab so I took there ford and traded it in on a lease returned 1yr old 2007 Toyota camry for my wife and my parents bought my megacab. My wife drove the camry to college and is currently finishing her degree up online due to our latest addition to the family (my 1 yr old son). I've been dreaming of a wrangler to drive again for years now but because of the economy being not so good I never know if I am going to be laid off from my job for periods of time. So it's been tough to just go get me another wrangler. But last week it happened. I found a used 2007 wrangler x 2 dr (works fine for us since we have the camry for extra large loads) it's no rubicon but yet neither is the price. It has the low geared rearend option 4:10 or 4:11 (I don't have the paper in front of me) , soft top, rubicon rims, engine block heater, 6 speed manual, heavy duty suspension, cruise control, fog lights, steel blue metallic paint, tow package, half doors, Oh and best of all only 14,000 miles yes u read that right only 14,000 miles on it. Barely driven for an 07 model. I bought her and she's getting a 3 inch lift this week and probably 35 inch tires. I'll try to post some pics soon. Thanks for reading and I hope it wasn't too boring.

Sweet Jeep, like the options.

Whats next?

Email Chrysler with your VIN# for a build sheet.
You might have the Rubicon RocTrac 4:1 transfer case in there since it came with the 4:10 axle gears. My 07 X did and pushes 35's just fine.

Sounds somewhat familiar - I dumped my 06 when the gas prices hit the roof and recently 4 weeks ago got an 08 X with 5300 miles it had a lift and 35's on it - gas is starting to creep up again but no way am I getting rid of this one - feel like I belong in a Jeep

Thanks! Yeah I'll try to get the build sheet. I have a little build sheet that they gave me with the jeep but I'm not sure if it has everything.

Oh, it has the 6cd stereo with the sub in the back which I really like cause it saves me from having to buy an aftermarket sound system.

I'm getting 3 inch lift and 35's first. Then later I'll go for bumpers and a winch. Hope to go with one of those fancy winches with the air compressor.

I put in my front bfg tread pattern slush mats that I kept from my 4dr rubicon but the back floorboard mat did not fit. I'm outfitting the cubbyhole in the back with tow strap, collapsable shovels, tool kit, papertowels, binoculars, etc. Also another sweet thing about this jeep is it already had a cb antenna and wire mounted so installing my cb was a zip. I just dug out my old cb from my previous jeep that I had rigged up to plug into the 12v aux plug and put on some new Velcro, stuck it to the dash, plugged in the wires and done.

Well that's all for now. Thanks for all the replies. I'm really having fun with this ha ha!
