Old School

Shall we start with the rust, or the pull knobs with bent shafts that always came off. Or maybe the horn's half life (not to mention the odometer). No, no, it was the fabulous air flow from those huge defrosting ducts. And having the wires exposed under that flat panel, along with the cheap glove compartment lock, priceless. I'll give you the look (even with those cheap name plates), but durability & function were never existent.

I guess my point was that I think that our JKs interior looks "normal", "average" or even dull.....
Making something "cooler" that has more "character" would be easy and wouldn't cost more...

my first jeep experience was my dad's 1977 cj5 renegade with the levi's package, so i'll always have a soft spot for those old cjs... .but that center mounted spedometer would drive me insane.
I have one word for you Jeep: Toggle switches, everywhere. Including dummy ones that we can wire ourselves. The headlamp switches should not be on the stalk.
Maybe the revised interior that is apparently coming will be worthwhile. If FIAT has anything to do with it a funky interior is possible, but my money is on them changing hardly a thing.

I'm all for old school and we have a mini so we've gotten comfortable with the look but I do like the JK set up...there are other things they could definitely improve on and several threads discussing what they are but I'm okay with the current look. Just my
did you ever try to break, push the clutch and toggle the high/low beam at the same time on a CJ ? that dash layout was not the best, at last no need to be scare for rain to mess up the electronic... the only good part on the CJ dash was unplugging the speedo in 5 sec, Dad never complained about to much mileage lol
Only to former CJ owners. I hated the pull out knobs. The retro look is alive and well in the Wrangler. The Camaro and Challenger were dead and gone. The Mustang had become an entirely different car in the 80's. (I had an '85) Jeep was the first with the retro look when they introduced the TJ.
