I added the sarah sides to my unlimited X to make it easier to get in and out. No my wife and are not elderly but my wife is short. Also like others said better to have those to take hits than the side of the Jeep. OH! one more thing they help keep some of the salt, mud, etc off the door handles. I don't mind my Jeep having some crud on it but I DO mind having dirty door handles in some cases. I don't think they look bad...

I like the factory steps, for the grandkids to use, AND the sides of the Jeep are clean and chip-free....Course you young studmuffins are not cool without rockrails, so go for them and leave the steps to the old farts....

I bought a pair of the stock Sahara side steps for my X mainly because I don't like the looks of mud flaps. Everyday I have to drive almost 4 miles down a gravel road to, and from, the house. It was starting to tear up my paint. Installed the side steps and that problem went away. I don't even use them to get in and out of the rig. Plus I don't happen to think they look bad at all.

I wanted rock rails, and probably will someday, but at the time I couldn't find any that would also protect the paint too. Recently I have tho and may end up with them someday.

Well, *I* like the side steps on my Sahara.

Of course, I am only 5' tall. I don't think I could get in without them! LOL.

I don't think they look bad.

I like 'em. The fiance needs them to get in & out, they keep idiots from bashing their doors into mine, and they keep rocks & crap from getting thrown up on the sides. I also like to stand on 'em to adjust the hardtop panels when I'm putting them back on.

My wife is 5'1" so thats a reason and like you said, its worth the parking lot protection. I have the molded ones (not round) and i actually like them. I figure they hang no lower than the body so i'm ok with them.
