Since it is free to try, I would pull the cam sensor out and clean the lobes on the cam that it's reading. This isn't as easy as it sounds due to limited access, but it isn't that hard either. You can get your finger wrapped in a rag in the hole and wipe the surface, then turn the engine by hand via the crank bolt. It's much easier if you have someone turning the engine while you just hold your finger in place.

In one of these threads I have a picture of what can build up on the camshaft where the sensor reads but I can't find it at the moment. I've had that as an issue on mine before and cleaning stopped the P0369 code. It could be wishful thinking, but it is at least a free troubleshooting step.

@resharp001 I know it is not the sensor because before I brought it to the shop, I swapped sensors to see if the code would follow the sensor, unfortunately it did not. The shop checked all the wiring and watched the sensor's readings to see if there was any issue.

I'm not suggesting it is the sensor, but what the sensor is reading. That isn't reading teeth, like a tone ring. it is a more flat surface that is passing by the sensor and it can gather some buildup which can interfere with what the sensor is picking up. Like I said, could be wishful thinking, but it is free to clean. I have personally experienced this as my issue so it's not absurd. I also had my VC off and cams out before so I saw first-hand what was built up on it.

You could also try to swap the cam phaser actuators from the exhaust/intake sides and see if the code moves. Those are just held on my 3 small bolts each and it's a 5 min swap. If the code moves to the other side of the sensor you know the culprit.

So I am still battling this issue. I am also getting the P2638 when I get the P0369 (which I have seen online that many people have had both those codes occur when the P0369 happens)

The shop has had it on and off for 2 months. This is what we have tried so far. (1-6 is what we have tried and 7+ is what they just tried)

1) Swapped the sensors
2) Checked the wiring harnesses
3) Checked the oil pressure while driving
4) Re-cynchronized the cam phasers
6) Updated the ECU
----------- Just tried 7+ this week
7) Checked the Oil Galley Bolts (1 was loose so they were re-torqued with red lock tight)
8) Checked the Cam Phaser with a brand new OEM disassembled and out of the Jk and both were working properly

I'm lost...maybe it was the Cam Phaser, I am not sure how you check to see if they are working properly, or maybe it is the Oil Control Valve (the bolt that holds the phaser).

I just really want my Jeep back working, it has been in and out of the shop for 2 months and i haven't got to use it.

I have spent countless hours reading every forum thread multiple times related to these codes and cannot think of many other causes other than what I have said above.

Any advice on where we should look next will be greatly appreciated.

Default Temporary fix 3.6l phaser issue

This is just a temporary fix to get you by till you replace phaser
Quick try for a vehicle over 150000 miles
The vehicle that we were working on show symptoms of I've gone into limp mode going between 65 to 70 miles per hour or going up a Hill.
A temporary solution till we received the phasers

Was to increase the oil weight from 5 w 20 to 5w30 synthetic with a lucas oil stabilizer additive . Yes the actuators for the cam activated the codes p0016, but as soon as it reaches 210°F The vehicle would turn off the lights on its own And it will become operational with no hesitation or code's poppin Under load. A heavy duty oil will help the phaser from discharching since 5w-20 is to thin

After checkingCam sensor and the actuator on bank one passenger side

Wanted to see if this permanently fixed your problem and it make sure it didn’t come back? Also how did you figure out it was the wiring

there are several videos on YT that show you which wires in that harness to probe and what your result should be.
