As someone who builds race motors, all us 2012 JK owners should bow down, and thank god (or whoever you want to thank) that our motors are NOT direct injected. You guys have no idea how bad direct injection is for the longevity of the motor. It's a crappy technology used to satisfy moronic governments/regulations at the expense (like everything else) of consumers (us.) Here is the AWESOME bonus of a direct injected engine....

I love my pentastar. I was always against the 3.8l being as how I was raised on the torque and durability of the 4.0l, and when the Pentastar came out I gave a shot. After buying one 2 days after that test drive I have yet to be let down by this motor. I can't wait until more things become available for the new engine bay(onboard air, duel batteries, etc.). I think Jeep made a great step in new direction with this one. Now if only we could get a Hemi or a Diesel.
By the way why wasn't the Hemi on this list. 395hp and 22mpg in a quad cab pickup kinda speaks for itself.

22mpg? Maybe if you drive downhill all the time. Everyone I know that has one says they don't get above 14-15 maybe 17 if you drive like an old lady...
