PETITION -- JK Clockspring & Airbag Light
anymore info on this? My airbag light started going off about a week ago. I have a 2008 Wrangler X 2dr with 52,500 miles on it for reference to anyone else.
Im pretty sure I am out of warranty at this point so Im gonna walk in the stealership sometime after finals (currently in college) are over and say its a recall and hope they believe me
when they dont, I'll probably just forget about it for awhile and hope I dont get in a wreck. Wouldn't be able to pay for the repair if they charge me anyway

My airbag warning light just started going off and on today. I have an 08 Unlimited with 86,000 miles. I bought the Jeep with 7 miles on it so I am the only owner. I'm going to call the dealer right now and see if there is a recall. I will let everyone know what I come up with. If they say there isn't a recall I will file a complaint online.
I had my clock spring replaced this week I didn't know there was an issue with others mine was clicking real bad when I turned deal told me warranty had been extended. That must be a first a service department that wants to fix anything
Thanks for the info. My issue is exactly same as OP. 2008 JK, 50k miles, dealer wants 500. I filled out the petition, used the same wording and called Chrysler. I have a case ID and should get a call tomorrow according to the rep I spoke to.
There was a recall...but it was on the right hand drive models.

I have an 07 JKU and I received an extension on my warranty for the clockspring. They mailed it to me last year.
Maybe it's just the 07's or you have a stealership like I do, they try to bill you for everything.

Just a fyi the dealer isn't the only place to get your lights fixed. A air bag light can be turned on for many things. Many automotive shops have the proper tools to set and reset, diagnosis and repair I would go to these shops before the dealer, save some $$$ try a small business they can really surprise you
