Possibly selling the jk BUT for how much?
My '08 JK is a 2dr auto with 56,000 miles on it. No body damage. Wheeling, yes. It has a 3" lift, aftermarket bumpers and lights. Unsure of whether this is a pro or con in terms of resale value, but the JK has no back seat; instead, I customized a horizontal tire rack that bolts to the sport cage and the tailgate has a bolt on dual jerry can rack. Granted, I can easily reinstall my back seat and put the tire back on the tailgate if that helps with upping the resale.
I'm very much considering selling the JK because I'll be interning in NY City for some time and hope to continue working there. There's no point having the JK given I can walk and/or public transportation. In addition, I'd like to pay off my last $4,000 in college debt and use the rest of the money I get from the JK for living costs.
Think I can get a minimum $14,000 or more for it? Would it be wisest to sell to the dealership, used car lot, or personally via craigslist and other internet postings? I want to be able to get resale directly into my savings.
Any other tips and advice would be very much appreciated.
Thanks!

I'm looking for a Jeep around here similar ones are going for 17-19k don't low ball yourself.... As for aftermarket stuff you would prob get more if you sold it yourself, dealerships don't care about aftermarket add-ons.
$14K???
Where were you when I was shopping for a Jk?
Put it back to stock or close to stock as you can get. Most people don't want winches, or gas can holders. Then sell the used aftermarket parts to jeepers who do want that stuff.
Thats the best way to do it.

Sell it outright! This forum has for sale section and also use Craigslist. There are a lot of people who would love to have a Jeep that is already modified and willing to pay a little extra for it. And $14k?? You are giving it away! Check the value online and price accordingly. I would guess more like $17-$20k....

I used autotrader to sell my Megacab do I could buy a jeep. It took a full day to sell the Megacab. So don't do that unless your ready to sell. Tried cars.com for a week first and only got solicitation calls. Guys wanting $400 to sell it on eBay for me.

I would start out with autotrader.com to figure out the value of what similar JKs are going for. Like previously mentioned, $14K sounds a bit low.
Mods usually always depreciate the value. So make sure when you're selling it, to mention that the stock parts are still available. Not everyone looking to buy a JK is looking for one that is off road ready, so you've reduced your buying market. Even people who do like mods, prefer to mod it their own way. Offroad mods also tend to throw up a red flag. Look at all the pics posted on this forum of people with 6 inches of water in their floor boards. Does anyone want to buy a used vehicle wondering that something might be damaged electrically or mechanically due to off road use and it may not be obvious until you already own it? Even people who want to mod and are looking for a used JK, rather buy a used JK which they feel has been used for "Mall Crawling", since it gives them piece of mind that it hasn't been damaged due to off road use.
As previously recommended.....I would put that JK back to stock as much as possible, then sell the mods separately to people who will appreciate them. You'll get the most money all the way around on selling your JK and selling the parts.
