protection while wheeling
On my last trip, i shot a bunch of 9mm rounds through a Glock 17. I also shot about 50 rounds through an XDS .45, and found the grip on the .45 to be too short for my liking (my hands are kind of biggish). The Glock had a much better feel. I'll probably be picking one up for myself shortly, as I have a desire to carry inside the Jeep when I'm in the 'way out' places. You never know when you might run across a meth head, a bear, or just want to target shoot in good company.

Sidenote: I'm not going to argue with anyone about which is a better firearm. Shoot both and make up your mind yourself. If you disagree, carry what you like and I'll carry what I like
Wah. I'm in NJ. Can't carry anything by law unless you are going to or from a licensed range. I used to go ATV riding in the remote trails around Tower City PA. I didn't carry then, but one incident had me worried. I came up over a hill and saw a group of kids on atv's. They appeared to be in distress and were signaling me to come over. As I got to them, my wife and kids then appeared over the hill since they were lagging behind. The kids then Told me everything was fine and they didn't need any help. I know they initially thought I was alone and were going to force me off my quad to steal it. When they saw the rest of my crew their plan was foiled. Sure wish I was packing my M&P 40, or my Glock 19, or my Beretta Nano.
Ohh BTW do you happen to shoot at Shore Shot or Brick?
I have my CC for other states, but NJ is ridiculous. Honestly if I have to just through hoops just to get a permit to purchase a handgun at least let me carry it. Criminals do not follow laws. Those who chose to do the right thing and abide by the law should be allowed to protect themselves and others around them. Ohh BTW do you happen to shoot at Shore Shot or Brick?
I used to shoot at brick armory. The IRS shut them down in August without warning. Lots of people got screwed and lost money on guns and memberships. A relatively new place opened up called Shooters right off exit 58 on the parkway. Wow. That is what a shooting range should be. Modern. Clean. Bright. Nice staff. Full service hunting/camping/shooting store. I will end up using both shore shot and shooters. I live about 5 miles from shore shot and 30 miles from shooters.
I have been to shooters, never shot there though. I am at exit 74 so its not to far from me. I use to buy ammo from their other store called Tips hardware.
Their facility is really nice but kinda pricey.
I didn't understand his comment the way you did. Post above his describes a situation where a fellow on a quad thought some guys who were posing as stranded were actually out to steal his. Then the post you quote says that situation didn't make him want to carry. It made him want to stop helping stranded people. That isn't an "uneducated statement". It's a prudent decision, sad commentary that it is.
