Quadratec Winch Problem (2nd One)
I bought a Quadratec winch for my Jeep a few months ago. It was one of their 9500# versions. After installation, I noticed that it wouldnt wind up without making a loud squeeling noise. I thought that maybe it was because it was new. A few weeks ago, I tried to use it and it acted like it was locked up. I had to wind it back up by rotating the drum with my hand in freespool.
After calling QT, they replaced my winch with another. Install again was a pain in the ass, but I finally got it. This winch only works sparaticly. I used it to put tension on a wire fence, and while pulling the fence line tight, it was cutting on and off (like 3 second bursts). The problem happened on and off all day. I checked the remote plug and it seems like its tight and making connection.
Before I call QT and ask for a replacement AGAIN, has anyone else had any problems with their QT winch? I dont want another if this keeps happening. Im tired of installing and removing winches.

I called QT today and talked to Dave. He was very cool and helpful.
He told me that the problem could be in the remote. I have a buddy that has a winch like mine (that works fine) that will let me borrow his remote to see if that helps. Ill keep you guys informed.
