Default Quick question for everyone

Okay so I am looking to buy my first jeep and I want to get a four door rubicon. I was just curious to see how much people put for their down payment. I'm only 18 and have a part time job But I've saving and really want to get my jeep soon. I just wanted to know what a good doable down payment is. any responses are well appreciated.
Thanks everyone, Sam

$500 was mine. I think they would have taken $250 or less.

Usually you want to put down: Tax, License, and Registration Fees. But if you're 18, chances are that you will not have any credit, which is better then bad credit. But, expect to pay +$500.00 a month on a 29,000.00 dollar Jeep.

My advise, is wait untill you get a % 10 Down Payment which is about average on the down payments.

dude your 18 i would get a used one or hold off untill you have full time employment. just a word of advice.

that pay it off as fast as you can thing never quite works out that way.

I'm not trying to buy a new one. I'm just seeing cause I'm talking my parents into helping me get and/or a loan. I'm looking for maybe an 08 or 09.
But thanks for your advice and warnings.

The more you have in a down payment, the less interest you'll have to pay on the loan, and therefore will save you so much more work in the end.

BTW, I forced myself to suffer without a Jeep long enough to get at least 25% down payment, plus fees, licensing, etc.

Good luck though!

I was trading in a 2 year old Inifiniti which I bought new for $46K. Based on what I owed on it and what the dealership gave me for a trade, i walked out with an even swap..my car for a fully loaded Rubi w/NAV and every option under the sun. My net result was picking up my same owed balance of $15K so that would mean I put about $21K down since the Jeep was "sold" to me for $36K.

Whatever you decide to do, make sure you run one of the many online calculators that will tell you what your monthly payment will be based on the loan amount you get. Ths way, you know going in what to expect and won't be in any awkward situtaions when they come back with your monthly cost.

These calculators will ask for purchase price, interest rate, down payment, tax, number of years for loan and then will give you your number. ALWAYS know that number!!!
