Default Really Dumb Q (rear glass defroster question)

So I opened up the glass on my 2010 JK yesterday, looked up, and noticed that the wire which is saudered to the glass to conduct the heat...fell off. I am like 6 months past my warranty, so I am naturally assuming the dealership is going to charge me an arm and a leg to repair it. Has anyone had this happen or needed this repair? Its summer time so I obviously don't need it fixed for a while but, I drive with the back glass open a lot so its pissing me off seeing it swing around

Mine came off while still under warranty. The dealer sent it to a glass shop where they glued it back on. It came of again a few months later, still under warranty. They glued it on again. Months later, no longer under warranty, it came off again. I tucked the wire up into the hole in the top so I can't see it swinging...

Those tabs can be soldered back onto the pads on the glass, I have repaired one of those connections for a friend before. You have to be very careful 'cause it's very easy to crack the glass with the heat of the soldering iron. I wouldn't recommend trying it unless you are really confident in your soldering skills. A less risky fix would be to get one of the rear defrost grid repair kits, epoxy the tab onto the glass and make the electrical connection with the conductive paste in the kit.
