Default Rubicon Questions???

Guys, I'm a newbie to jeeps and was wondering what the Rubicon actually gives you for the extra $3,000. I realize that you get the D44 and 4.10 gears and some beefer shocks/springs setup but are the only other advantages over a Sahara the electronic sway bar disconnects and the 4:1 transfer case?? I pretty sure I can get the Lockable axles on the Sahara. Are the other parts heavier/beefier too i.e. are they made of thinner metal or something? Are there more skid plates, if so on what?? Thanks in advance for the help!!!!!

I beleive the 3 biggest things you cannot add to a sahara are the 4:1 transfer case, Front D44, and front locker. I also don t think you can get the 4.10 gears in anything but a rubicon for the 08's either. I think they only offer 3.73's now.

The latest 4wheel drive magazine says to just buy a 2 wheel drive and make it a 4x4 and you can save money. I dont see how, but I am an idiot.

I'm not the one to give you all the details, but you also get black fenders instead of those hideous painted ones (my .02) and some kickin' stickers on the hood! I'd say that's about worth $3000.
No, just kiddin'. I figured I'd just go with a vehicle that's ready to go anywhere and everywhere right outta the box, and that will most likely have a greater resale in the future...if I EVER get rid of this vehicle. I love it!!!

I don't think you can get lockable axles on the Sahara. You can add a rear locker and auto swaybar disconnect on the X.

this topic has been exhausted on this site. Just look it up in search and you'll find all kinda' stuff. Basically, 4.1 transfer case, front lockers, dana 44, sway bar disco, 4.10 gears, rock rails, better shocks.

Ok now I'm just nit picking........it says the Sahara comes with a Fuel Tank Skid Plate Shield and a Transfer Case Skid Plate Shield. Are those the same ones as on the Rubicon or does the Rubicon have thicker metal? And does it have other Skid plates?

All the Gas tank skids are the same. They are better then nothin, but cant really take a beating. All autos have tranny pan skids, but I didnt know any of the models had a transfer case skid. I know our Rubi doesnt.
