You folks are forgetting Cerberus isn't an automaker, or even a manufacturer. They're an investment capital company. If someone offers enough cash, I doubt there's anything (whole or part) that isn't for sale.

That said, I really hope this doesn't happen. Forget about me buying a Jeep if it does.

Jeep and M&M together. Just think of the new color possibilities.
Brown, Red, Orange, Green, Blue, peanut, plain, dark chocolate ....

My first knee-jerk reaction is oh no! I know German engineering is renown but how is Indian engineering? It's premature to cry now but if Jeeps are still built in the states and get's a diesel version then maybe it works out to be a good thing for the Jeep brand. However, from a 10,000 ft perspective... yet another bunch of jobs and money heading somewhere other than the US. Pretty soon all we'll have is jobs at fast food franchises.

What did I miss here, M&M want's to buy Jeep? This creates a lot of questions?

Can they successfully run an American car Company?

What will the new colors be? brown, yellow, green, red, blue, orange and special colors for the holidays??

And the most important question, will they melt in mouth and not in your hand?

I think we need these answers before we judge whether or not it's a good plan.

Only if it was an ugly kitten.

Can an Indian company run an American company/division? Talking about changing the rules of the game? Let's just hope they forgot about that little gas leak by Union Carbide in '84.

Yes. Sell it, get a different one and you'll be good again.

Jeep better not sell out. They have to keep it american or i'm gonna have to save up and buy a third to keep in the garage before they do. It seems that someone is always trying to mess with things I like. First it was the apple flavored fruit roll-ups when I was little, now this.. ughh... I wish I could buy the jeep name. haha. I think i'm a few dollars short.

Jeep is trying to get back into the Military contracting business, right? A sale to a foreign company wouldn't make sense because that would but jeep out of the Military contracting business for good... At least U.S. Military...

It would make more sense for Jeep to spin off and become an independent company with it's own IPO. Chrysler would make more money that way...

or

American General could buy Jeep and have a Hummer line, jeep line and a hybrid line called the Jummper ... Of course, this option could conflict with their contract with GM. GM has rights to market the Hummer and a Jeep purchase would put American General in direct copetition with their business partner... However, Jeep would have made full circle...

If this was to happen what would become of the models that were sold under Chryslers lifetime powertrain warrantee?
