Default Safety recall notice

Anyone get the Memo?

Recall K13 Front inner Fender Linners

Chrysler announced that it is recalling 288,968 Jeep Wranglers ranging from the 2006 through 2010 model years because of a potential brake fluid leak. Chrysler also said that 76,430 Wranglers are being recalled in Canada, Mexico and other international markets. According to NHTSA the Wranglers affected by the recall were made from May 15, 2006 through Aug. 9, 2010. A smaller number of Jeep Compass models were recalled. The Wrangler recall is due to the fact that the front inner fender liners on the Jeeps can rub against the brake fluid tubes and cause a leak. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the leak could lead to a partial brake loss.

I just received my letter in the mail as of 12/30/2010. Check with your dealer

Had mine done today. All they do is trim the inner fender well mudflap cause it rubs against the brake line. If I had paid attention to it I would have done it myself instead of dealing with the dealership.

Default Rubbing

I have the 07 and the liner has rubbed the brakeline enough to remove the dark finish and expose bright silver. I'm to the deal Monday and I'll report to let you know if the brake line gets replaced or not replaced. I have an 08 that doesn't rub or even come close to rubbing.

I got a notice this week too. However, this must be a hit or miss problem because I inspected mine and the liner is nowhere near the brakelines on either side. Had it been touching, I would have used my cutoff wheel and saved the trip to the dealer.

Yes,all the dealer does is mark a line parallel to & 5/8 above the lower edge of the liner & trim it. Mine is fine ,otherwise it would be DIY rather than hang around while the dealer does it...
