Default seat belt issue

On all of the seat blts, except the driver one, if you pull out all of the slack, it will begin to "ratchet" back. You go to get in and buckle yourself in, and pull all of the belt out. You bulcke it; then you release the slack. When you relase the slack, you can hear a "ratchet" sound. Now if you try to learn forword, or need more slack; it will not relase any more belt. You are stuck. You have to release the buckle and let the seat belt go all the way back in before you can pull it out again. On the driver's belt, you can pull it all the way out, rease some, and then pull more out. Why will the driver one do this and not the others? I took it to the dealer, but at the time, thought it was only the rear. The dealer showed me a JK on the floor and its rear belts did the same thing. He said that was just the way they worked. Can't be!! The front passenger one acts the rear, but not the driver one. Will take it back to the dealer, but waiting on other minor issues. Thought I would run this buy you guys also. Sorry this is so f'''ing wordy.

Common problem from the begining.. Your dealer can order you Seat Belt Extenders.. My dealer didn't even charge me for them.. Unless your 6 years old or under 120 lbs.. forget about using the rears..

What you are experiencing is completely normal. That Racketing is started by pulling the belt the whole way out. You are not supposed to do that. I will agree however that the belt should be a little longer, most of my friends will "Get ratcheted" if they lean forward.

The reason for this is for using a child safety seat. You Belt the seat in and pull it the whole way out so it ratchets back in. The seat will then be "Locked in and will not move in a accident. The Drivers does not do this since obviously you will never put a child seat there.

Ok, sounds good. However, then why would the front passenger one do that also since you should never put a child safety seat there? Plus, you should be using the anchors to secure the child's seat to the vehicle. Atleast give us a option to turn turn this feature off.

is there a solution besides the extension? maybe we should just get new belts. They come in any color you can imagine, and would add to your customization. Personally i want red ones to match angelinas jeep from tomb raider. oh baby
