Dude I used a trailer fender bracket and $9.96 Autozone mirrors (big ones) and mounted them using the windshield screws as it all fit exact. It is as simple as undoing two screws per side to remove or install them using the TORX set in the jeep. My only problem is I dropped and broke one the other day. Aside from that they liik good. BTW I forgot to mention I sprayed them flat black with a $1.09 can of spray paint. All this goes to show a little know how and some stuff hanging around (or cheaply bought) and you can have some nice looking doors off mirrors.

these super-quick-release ideas would be very convenient.......but if they're too convenient (like a magnet) it's a matter of time before someone steals them.

i don't have a mirror solution yet, but it's looking like the auto zone $14.99/ea. deal for me. i plan on cutting that bracket so that all i have to do is loosen the 2 bolts. the bracket is covered with the little boot, so no one will know how easy the removal is.......and if they do--- i'm out $30. i wouldn't be happy, but it won't break me.

I don't have my Jeep yet to try it and won't for a little while, but I think the magnet idea will work and be quick & easy. You just have to find the right kind of mirror.

You can get rare earth magnets from these guys in all shapes and sizes. It would just be a matter of finding the mirror you want and using a very strong epoxy to glue the magnet to whatever part would attach to the jeep. Those magnets are super strong so if you don't use a good enough glue, chances are you'll go to pull the mirror off one day and it will pop off and the magnet will still be on your jeep. But I'd think you would want a really strong magnet so the mirror doesn't easily fall off or change it's position when you hit a bump or something

Anyway that's how I'd do it if I had my Jeep now

I'm too busy at the moment to look this up online and understand exactly the reasons BUT --- magnets on painted mental -- not a good idea for the paint -- even magnetic bumper stickers (weak magnet) tell you to removed them after brief use for fear of damaging the paint... Google away before you used rare Earth mags on your Jeep's paint...

With the bumper sticker it's not the magnet but the dust that buids up behind it that causes the paint problems (you can also lose a magnet that way). Witht he rare earth magnet or any other hard magnet (bumper stickers are soft) you need something between the magnet and the finish to protect the finish otherwise it will scratch it. The magnets do not affect paint themselves.

hmm, yeah I guess paint could be a problem.. oh well. Maybe a big C clamp from Home Depot?

Or, a nice piece of pleather between the magnet and the metal?
