Default this site rocks!

Just to give some props to this site and the admins...bought some MOPAR mirror relocation brackets for my JK only after learning that the Rugged Ridge brackets had some sort of design flaw that did not allow you to see out of the right side...WTF!? Anyway, confirmed same on their materis (Rugged Ridge) and bought the MOPAR. Should get them in a few days...want to slap them on before some wheeling this weekend!

I was under the impression both the rugged ridge and the mopar relocation brackets obstructed the view out the passenger side with the doors on. I have the rugged ridge one, and only relocated the drivers side because of this.

Well...that is gonna piss me off true! Will install and see what happens...would think QTec and/or MOPAR would have to disclose this if this was a problem...it was certainly public knowledge on the Rugged Ridge...I read about the defect in their pamphlet.

Look what I found on Quadratec:

Rugged Ridge Mirror Relocation Bracket in Black
For 07-10 Jeep® Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimted JK

NOTE: Requires factory JK mirrors (not included).
PLEASE NOTE: Due to the placement of the new mirror brackets, the passenger side mirror will be partially blocked with full doors reinstalled.

-------------------------------------------

MOPAR® Mirror Relocation Bracket for 07-10 Jeep® Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimted JK
There is no note about passenger side mirror

Quadratec put the note in the Rugged Ridge, BUT NOT in the Mopar

I got the parts tonight...no mention anywhere on any of the literature about this either...but there is some bit about Rugged Ridge warranty...I stand by my original statement...pissed if this does not work!

To be fair, the Rugged Ridge brackets do not have a design flaw, they decided that the tiny amount of obstructed view when the doors are on was better than the "Dumbo" look if they stuck out any longer.

I just use a tiny stick on mirror, don't even notice anymore.

Hmm...that is a good idea. I don't like not having the extra mirror when the doors are off. I may just relocate the passenger side anyways, especially if i pick up soft doors this summer

It should work:

Instructions of Rugged Ridge (you will find the note): hxxp://www.quadratec.com/Assets/Installation/86728.pdf

Instructions of Mopar (no note, and built by Rugged Ridge): hxxp://www.mopar-accessories.com/en-US/36100/imagehandler.ashx?id=14626

RubiDude, thanks to be our "cobaye"

Sooo...I looked at the parts and there is the Rugged Ridge warranty in the box! I called to Qtec today and the guy said that it IS the same part...but not! The same issue exists on the passenger side! I went ahead and said that I would like to return them, he agreed to send the RR part, which is $20 less, and refund me the difference. Plus, the MOPAR parts were chipepd up...sealed in the bag! Anyway, I will await the RR parts and install them since I really want the doors off alot this summer! He claims the problem is the height of the mirror relative to the windshield...and at that is is only a partial impediment. I will post a review of my own when I get to install them. However, IMO, no need to spend extra $$$ for something that is no different than the RR.
