Default So how hot is that hardtop?

Have you ever wondered how hot the inside of a JK hardtop can get? Today was cloudy and 90ish. First pic was right after lunch after I ran some errands in the JK. I had all the windows closed when I took the temp both times.

Second pic was less than 2 hours later with the JK parked in the sun.

For some reason I could not get the gun to pick up the temp from the outside top. In a few days it will be 95+ and clear, I'll check again. I'm working on insulating my hardtop very soon. I'm going to do one panel, so I can have a side by side comparison.

I actually always wondered that! There have been days that in order to take the freedom top off I had to hose it down first because it was way too hot to pick up, even with mechanics gloves on! Can't wait to see in 95 degrees and sunny...

the hothead headliners do work pretty well. it keeps the heat from radiating down on your head for sure

I've got some foil insulation from home depot and some dynamat 50mil coming. Also going for extra credit with some spray in foam in the hollow edges on the freedom panels. Yes that means I will be drilling holes into the panels.

hytechsales.com/buy_ceramicadditive put this in your google and use the first site that pops up.

I had the same thoughts the other day when it was pushing 100 outside. Found this and thought it might be a solution.

That's not that surprising, I always have to run a hose over the hardtop to cool it down before I can take it off in the summer or I'd burn my hands.......... eggs anyone?

That is just crazy Joe!

I have wondered what mine is out here in Phoenix on a sunny 115* day. I can barely tap the inside of the top without getting 3rd degree burns!
