Default soft top side windows

Any of you guys have any problems with these, mine opened 3 times today while driving on the highway. Am I not installing in correctly? Apparently not. In my TJ, you had to secure the window on the door frame, on the JK, there is no real groove. There is nothing to slide the plastic piece into. Just pressure from the door that holds it in place. Is this correct? I guess I just have to re-align my windows.

There is a groove. The hard plastic tab on the front side of the window slides into the groove along the door frame, and it is held there securely by tension from the zipper. Once it's in the groove and the window is zipped, it should not be able to come out on its own.

Hope this helps.

I just put my soft windows on for the first time yesterday. I understand why people are confused. The hard plastic edge piece that's wrapped in fabric has to turn and slide into the the slot on the door frame. It was tough to do the first time last night. I understand why people thing that it just rests there and by closing the door will hold it there. That's incorrect. I thought the instructions in the manual were a little light in describing the assembly. I'm just glad I was a previous TJ owner. That helped me through. I couldn't imagine being a first time Jeep owner and trying to understand it.

LOL yes get the plastic in that groove...or else it'll flap around or come off, no matter what...

As you can see in my picture here, look closely at the window on the upper part, close the the door...

Also ClownBaby, you are folding your soft-top wrong. I did what you did my first time but after looking at the manual, I see that you need to fold the top into two small "w"s not one big"W". I know that doesnt make sense, but in other words, try folding more. It should be a tight stack of folds that can sit nicely behind the roll bar when all the way down. Let me know if you need pics to help describe.

Default Minor point but...

In the photo above the soft top might actually flop and drop into the passenger compartment.

Believe it or not, the top is designed to be folded even more so that it all tucks neatly into about 6 layers.

Each of the sections between the metal bars can fold into "W" sections.

I had mine like the above photo for several days and my kids kept saying it was falling on them and one day it actually dropped enough to be in the rear view mirror!

There is another thread that has some great photos too...especially reply #19

Fortunately this site had the ins and outs on it and when I folded it into those sections - it looked neat and has worked great.

I have absolutely zero problems folding back the sunrider top. In fact the W nearly folds itself. However when I pull the whole top down the fabric that is in the "W" hits the roll bar. It will not go all the way down. I have to open the bows back up and push the plastic edges (from the "W" to the inside. This sort of bends them and the whole package does not look all the nice and neat. It is not nearly as compact as when I first got the soft top out from under the hard top... of course I know it will never get that compact again. I just can't get it to lay flat all the way unless I push all the material to the inside of the bows, that is not how it is described in the manual.

You need to resist the natural fold that the top wants to make in the sunrider position. It is at that stage that you need to fold it more. Like the post mentioned above, it makes two "w" folds... not one BIG W fold. That will keep it tight and compact and actually looking like it does in the catalogue!

We really need a video for this process. Maybe I'll put one together.
