Default SOS in Amarillo

Headed to Red River, NM for a couple weeks of overlanding and after stopping for dinner in Amarillo CEL came on with code P0301, cylinder 1 misfire. Grabbed a set of plugs and changed out #1 plug. Got a mile or so down the highway and engine stumbling again with same code.

So I'm looking for a reputable mechanic in Amarillo who can help diagnose the problem. Thanks....

Dealerships unable to help for days here, even Dumas, other than checking the code which I've already done. Looks like this vacation and months of prep are dead in the water.

What year Jeep and how many miles? Have you checked the plug wires (a good visual inspection)? Better yet, have they ever been changed (if this JK has a lot of miles)?

A Facebook friend of mine lives in Amarillo. I've texted him on FB and he suggested the dealer at I-40 and Coulter. I told him what you wrote, so he's seeing if he can find the number of another place on Canyon Drive. Right now he's driving into Amarillo and will be there in about an hour--he's been posting pictures of Colorado with a group of overlanders the past few days, so may be headed back from that. He says you may call him for direct coordination, and he'll help however he can. I will PM you his number ...

He says 806-353-6343 is the number for a Dodge dealer on I-40. Not certain that isn't who you may have already called.

Thanks Mark! Got Texas Dodge to finally say they would take a closer look today or tomorrow morning.

2009 Sahara unl. 85k+ miles. Plug wires look fine imo. But have not been changed to my knowledge, only had the Jeep a handful of months.

I very much appreciate the help. If all does not go well I will give your friend a call. I'm feeling better about things already!
