I usually take it to the local carwash and power wash the heck out of the underbody. Once it dries I crawl under and take a wire wheel to the rusty spots on my skid plates/frame and then touch up with some Rustoleum or other generic black rust-proofing type spray paint. Of course I really was supposed to do this in the fall before the salt got all over it. I'm seriously considering LineX'ing inside my wheel wells (I trimmed my fenders) and perhaps the skid plates as well while I'm at it. I don't think it will help when I drag it across a rock, but it should be easier to touch up?

I live in the Salt Belt, where vehicles rust away in 10 years . I power wash underside , then when dry in a few days, I use compressed air to blow out sand/dirt from crannies. Then I wash under with mixture of
" SALT AWAY" and water .The Salt Away dissolves salt, used in Marine application, Google it.
Not done yet .After drying ,a week or so, I have it " Rust Copped". This creeps and protects, done on an annual basis. I hate rust , it never gives up.

What about under carriage paint that will not fade to a gray?
Also what about putting high temp paint on all exhaust since that seems to be covered in rust.

Mine is never clean. Even after I clean it I find dirt clots, grass, mud and rocks under it. Shoot my soft top looks like a mud monster threw up on it. I've tried pressure washing it scrubbing it and its still never clean.

One tip is take your fist and hit your stock fenders. All kinds of crap will fall out of it
