So I currently have an 07 jku x With 33's and 2.5" lift. (71k mi). I've been really tempted to trade up before my value drops dramatically but I have a few things holding me back! I love the rudimentary interior of the pre 2010 days and I actually feel like I'm rolling along in a wrangler not an SUV..parting with the old school style interior would be sad but something i could get over lol. The 3.8 has been strong but the power is just not there.. so, are there any real reasons as to not trading up to say a 12 or 13? Should I wait for possibly the model year change in 16? And finally..is the 3.6 that much better than the3.8? I have seen horror stories coming from the pentastar and the 6spd and it has me worried lol.

Last question for y'all, what could I expect to be paying for another sport this time of year? Could I steal away with a 13 as the 14's are on order? Or wait for another day..

Thanks all!

I will tell you this, the value on your JK is not going to drop dramatically. They hold their value very good. You will take a hit once you get 100k though.

I was looking at a 12 Sport 2dr a couple months ago and they wanted $27 for it. They're absolutely nut, but that's beside the point.

The 3.6 is awesome over the 3.8, but I can't justify the price to jump to the 3.6.

I had all the same concerns. Had an 07 sport, kept telling myself I couldn't spend the money for a 12+, 07 interior is better, 3.8 is OK...etc.

3 months ago I traded for a 13 Rubicon. I am very happy. Engine is so much better, interior has grown on me. The new seats are better, more comfortable. All n all it is just a more refined vehicle.

The main decision is if the cost is worth it for u, because no jk is cheap.

some thoughts:
3.6 vs. 3.8 - I think the 3.6 has a drivability and power advantage when it comes to on road performance. When it comes to offroad, I really like the 3.8. From what I have read, max horse power from the 3.6 comes at 6400 rpm. I recently added a Superchips Flashpaq which has made some nice improvements in performance.

As stated by others, Wranglers in general do not depriciate like many other vehicles.

And I totally agree on the interior!

Rumors I've heard are the diesel in 2016, but new model in 2018.

I can't even wrap my head around the thought of a diesel Wrangler. I would sleep at the dealership awaiting its arrival.
