Default Thoughts about my build?

New to the forum:

Getting a new to me 2015 JK. I've done LOTS of reading.. and here is my plan which I would like to know opinions on.

18X9 wheels with +1 offset (just want them to stick out a tad)
33X12.50 tires (was considering 275/70 but may be too narrow for my taste)
Teraflex 1.5 leveling spacer lift
AEV Procal for tuning

I know my start of list is small, but I'm also buying Core doors, bumpers, lights, etc.. so I'll be throwing around 6K right off the bat. I'm more curious about the leveling kit and tuner... my TJ has a 3" lift, but it seems the JK doesn't need to be raised that high for 33" tires? I just assumed everyone used kind of the same kits/tuners (like for my Duramax) but with JK's that doesn't seem to be the case

9" width and +1 offset gives around 5.1" backspace? Perfectly fine for 33's. (If you think you may swap up to 35's at some point, a 4.5" backspace might be worth considering, but 5.1 would likely still be ok.)

No, the JK does not need as much lift. You may not need the leveling kit for 33's, but I'd opt for adding it.

I have both a Procal and a FlashCal (that was upgraded to a FlashPaq tuner), and I prefer the ProCal. No pretty screen to look at, but no hiccups due to internet updates or need for their pathetic customer service/tech support. Another option is JScan, which you download to your phone, and all you need to buy is the odb adapter from amazon or wherever. I have not used this one, but fairly favorable reviews on it.

I started looking into the jscan, I think that might be my best option. Also considering the coil lift over spacers so my front doesn't sag after bumper addition. thanks!

The Jscan is really great. It is really low cost considering everything you can do with it and it is pretty intuitive. Even if just for diagnostics it's a great tool. I have a Bully Dog tuner that stinks but I stick with it cuz my factory tune is all jacked up. I have a Blue Driver and a Jscan that I use for diagnostics and that Jscan will run circles around BlueDriver as far as speed of results. There are all sorts of other things you can do with Jscan as well, one of the top things being programming new chipped keys.

Absolutely nothing wrong with just doing the TF leveling kit. It seems your idea is to simply accommodate a bit larger tire and that's a smart idea. The only other thing I'd add is most of us prefer a 17" wheel and a touch more sidewall, but all subjective to the owner.
