I have to say first off, crap happens. I doubt that he started off the day with the intention of being out $650.00. I spent several years working in the auto accessory business while going through school and things happen from time to time no matter how careful you are. All you can do is try to make it right for the customer and move on. Hopefully he is a stand up guy and you won't have any issues.

Tempered glass shatter when hit from the edges. It's made to with stand impact on the plain, but not the edges. The guy probably accidentaly hit the side of the glass with a tool or something.

Just have to ask, wasn't the rear window dark enough as is. I live in Fl. (the sunshine state) and have zero issues with the hardtop windows being too lightly tinted. IMO

The deep tint windows [privacy glass] is a $300 option. Most dealers order the hardtops with the privacy glass since that's a big selling feature. I know it was an option on my JK.

I see plenty of hard top jeeps here in ohio with non-tinted windows... with as dark as it is up here in ohio and often rainy in winter, tint is tougher to see out of at night.. and most people use the hardtops in winter up here...

im surprised down south though it didnt have deep tint...

really though id make the guy have the new glass installed at a glass shop, or have a glass shop come put it in because of the wiper motor and all involved.. you dont want leaks down the road....

I kinda have to agree with svt2224... crap happens. I'm sure that the tint shop will make good on it & replace the glass. As long as they get it installed correctly & in a reasonable amount of time, I wouldn't sweat it.

LOOONG ago, I worked for Circuit City.... we once had an installer drill into the gas tank of Cecil Fielder's Ferrari while trying to install a sound system! Now THAT was an expensive mistake.

I have a right hand drive and it didn't come with tint. I didn't order it I had the dealer find me a RHD and bring it in. I didn't even pick the color. I said find me a 2dr RHD 4x4 and the next day one showed up with silly little tires and everything else was totally BONE STOCK, but we made a deal and I've done alot to it since. Earlier yesterday before the tint I had my Super 44 custom mounted and that went great. now i'm bummed anxious about what its gonna look like today.
