Default Tire carrier question everyday use

Thinking about getting a tire carrier/ rear bumper combo. Does the tire carrier get annoying on an everyday car? parking lots, grocery trips, etc..
Just want to hear some opinions.
THANKS!!

It would drive me nuts on a car..... On my daily driver jeep however it doesn't bother me at all. Most of the time I'm topless so you can just load onto over the tub

I believe that this question is related more to necessity. If you do not need one, then why spend the money on one. If you need one, then get one and don't worry about using it.

What facet of the tire carrier are you thinking may be annoying?
Visibility? Having to swing it before opening the tailgate? Both?

Makes sense. I wanted to get bigger tires which made me think about the carrier.
And yes a bit of both reasons.. opening and closing, that sort of stuff.

You can get one that swings with the tailgate.

I can understand the annoyance aspect of it. My smittybuilt src tire carrier fits so tightly, that it really requires two hands to open. One for the latch and the other to apply a little downward pressure. So far, it hasn't really been an issue. If I were caring an armload of stuff to put in the back, it could be.......

I opted for the AEV tire carrier, as it opens and closes with the rear gate, and will work with or without the stock bumper. Pricey but the thing is solid and provides options for future upgrades.

On my old TJ I had a tire carrier that was kind of annoying. The locking mechanism was difficult to work with and it fit so tight it you had to slam it to get it to latch which made it difficult for anyone other then me to open or close it. If/when I get one for the JK, it will be one that attaches to the tailgate like a few people have mentioned.
