Default tires

on my jk unlimited..im running 35 inch Nitto Tera Grapplers..
honestly, the tires themselves are great...showing very little wear.
but!..im 18, and the gas is killing me. i drive sensibly..(my pop drives like a grandma) and i learned from him, but to the point..the mileage is eating away at my pocket.
i get 13-15 just depending..i do have a CAI by K&N, but is it really the 35s that are killing me this bad...im beating myself in the head cuz i really think i should have gone with 33s.
im going off to college soon and i hope i can ease the burden.

I know i know "dont get a jeep for mileage"...but thats just the thing...i love my jeep..i just wana try to make it alittle better from me to drive everyday so i can stop blowin all my cash on gas and startin spendin more on mods!!

any suggestions would be great guys

Have you read through this web site? There are tons of ideas, what to do and don't do. You have not mentioned what you did other than tires. Did you have your speedo recalibrated? Are you driving a gas guzzling automatic? and so on.

Check out all the tips on driving here. Use mpg & gears for your search, you'll find more info than you can handle.

Some options:
Purchase:
RIPP Supercharger - +$5000K
or
HEMI: +15K.
GEARS: $1500-2000K with install

This shoul help with Fuel economy...but hurt the pocket book!

Or sell your 35's to someone on the forum and purchase some 33's.

try the fitch fuel catalyst, if that works i've also got a bridge to sell you. you can order a coors light and then complain about the fact that it tastes like water.

I run 33x12.50R17 Cooper STT's but it's a 6spd with 3:73 gearing and I get around 18-19MPG City and 21-23MPG highway driving.

Another solution is to find yourself a cheap DD...Honda Civic/Toyota Corolla and keep your JK the way it is and us the JK for trips/off-roading adventures?

It would seem a pretty significant improvement as you're cutting two inches from the overall diameter of the tire. Doing so reduces how hard the engine needs to work to get you up to speed not to mention maintaining your speed. Then of course there is the whole weight issue of the 35's in comparrison to the 33's. Again with the heavier tire it makes the engine work harder thereby giving you the results you're getting.

If you drop down to 33's you'll also notice a bit more longevity in your drivetrain as well.

Quick Reply: tires
