topless rocks
As I contemplate the topless feature of the jeep, it occurred to me, having had chipped windshields many times previous, that a flying rock could very well dodge the windshield and take out my eye.
And as I type this, I reckon that would be true of any convertible.
I would definatley strive to stay out from behind the dump trucks around here.

Ummm... does your head stick up past the windshield?
It's preatty flat, and it's rather unlikely that debris will come over the windshield and follow a trajectory towards your face..... with that being said, going doorless, Ihave had a few pebbles get thrown up past the fender flares and hit my leg (well my leg was semi outside the body as my foot was resting on the door sill..., but still)

I have yet to be hit by anything that did not hit the windshield and either crack it (twice since January) or bounce up and over. Doors off is another matter but that is one reason I love the sahara running boards. I have had stuff audibly hit the board and would have hit me if they had not been there. Now driving on the beach with the front panels off we almost had a seagull in the jeep. We clipped his wing tip and gor a feather or two.
8 years of Jeep driving with the top off, and not one rock or flying object problem. Occasionally getting doused in a flash rain storm? Yes. Other objects? No.
Now, for my Chevy Avalanche, a different story.. I was driving down the highway, and had the driver's window open. A stone hit my driver's side mirror, and bounced directly into my face. I turned to look at the mirror when I heard the loud "tick", just in time to take the stone to the face.. fun!
