I agree, I have no problem spending $1500 on a portable brake system, it's probably worth it. It just seem like for what it is, really? Our state it is mandatory to have brakes on anything over 3000# not sure of other states

All states except one require a toad to have a breaking system

I used the Jeep wiring kit not to bad of a install except if you have a cage. Than can make it a little harder.

It's a beast of a hitch.

The weight requirements for supplemental brakes is what typically varies state to state. Either way, I sure wouldn't tow anything without having a supplemental brake. I just used simple diodes way back when, but the wiring loom that simply plugs into the light connections in back is really the way to go these days.

I used a Hopkins wiring harness for my 2014. Model 56200 for the 2014. Using fiberglass rod wire pulling set from harbor freight, I was able to conceal 90% of the harness inside the chassis frame on the drivers side. I started near the left rear tail light. Was a very clean install.
