Default Towing capacity

What's the max tow weight for a JK with 5.13 gears? I've never really looked into towing anything before but my wife wants an RV and I'm not sure the JK can pull it safely. The RV is 3900 lbs. I'm not in the mood to buy a new truck just so we can tow an RV.

My '07 four door with 4.10 gears is factory rated at 3500 lbs. It's going to be a lot less for the two doors--2000 lbs IIRC.

Two door or four door? The two door is around 2000 pounds, and you do not want to pull much more than that, it really is not a weight thing, it is a wheel base thing. I believe the four door can pull 4500 pounds? (I think)

Actually, it's 3500 lbs on a 4 door. Look into Hybrid RV's in the 18'-19' range. This will get you in your tow capacity and provide a nice camping experience.

Is 3900lbs the dry weighted or loaded capacity of the trailer ? That's important to know.

Here's an 18' Startcraft Travelstar I sold a year ago ... 2900lbs UVW, 3700 GVWR.

Sorry, it's a 4 door. I'd never push the limits or risk someone's life just to tow a trailer or RV.
