The manual clearly warns against towing using a dolly because they rightly assume people will do it wrong. If the front wheels are on the dolly and you remove the rear drive shaft the only thing turning is the rear wheels,axle and the flange at the rear end. It won't hurt anything because there is nothing to turn the trans or transfer case. So it won't matter if its in gear or not.

that's exactly what i figured. ok well i thank you all for the advice. i think i will just remove the drive shaft. thanks!
