Trade 4dr Sahara for 2dr Rubicon? ---baby on the way---
Just following the wall of advice and want to emphatically state: DON'T!
When my son was born, we had two 2dr cars. We didn't even move the car seat between vehicles and it was STILL a huge pain in the rear to get him into the car seat when he was too big for the carrier.
Imagine needing to crawl into the Jeep, then swing over into the back and precisely place about 20 pounds of baby/blankets/carrier.
If you really want the SWB, wait until your wife "claims" your 4dr, then trade in what she drives for what you need since she's always in "yours". But don't expect to be haulin' kids in it.

I cuncur with this. When my son was born we had a BMW 325 convertible. It was a royal PITA to get him in and out of and the passenger's front seat had to be kept fairly fr forward. Of course with the top down it was great putting him in and out but otherwise it totally sucked. I have the 4 door JK now with my 4 year old and 1 year old and I have no complaints, wouldnt trade it for anything.
We do not have any kids but took friends wheelin 2 weeks ago and it is a PITA just to get back there for any reason. Find a friend or other 2dr owner and try doing stuff in the back seat area, I would think it would be really tight just trying to get the child/baby seat back there at all.
If my wife and I were planning on starting a family any time soon, we would have gone with the four door. Since we're looking at at least 5 years before we have little ones, we stayed with the 2 door.
With the change in how the back seat is accessed, I don't even leave my back seat in. It's just not worth it, as the thing is practically useless.
Stay with the four door. Not only is it less mess... it's better for a family.

Just adding to the unanimous decision here, keep the Unlimited. Besides getting the car seat in the back of a 2-door being a PITA, you also have to consider the stroller, the playpen, their bag of stuff/toys, etc., etc., which will not all fit well behind the back seat. Also, if you have another one in 2-3 years, you'll want a double stroller, which takes even more space, I doubt the one we had would have fit behind a JK 2-door back seat.
I concur - with three kids and one of them in a booster the 4 door is only OK - there are times when its cramped (just add a dog and some groceries). And keep in mind that if you have one kid you are bound to end up needing to cart around others (friends, birthdays, etc) and having the three seat belts in the back is key.
I almost got a WJ for the power and lower price. But, after driving it and the JK, I realized the JK has more rear leg room than the WJ. With that said, the JK isn't much bigger than my little Ford Focus! The seating position is just more upright.
One point no one has made:
When kids get to be about 3-6 years old (a long time duration), their legs aren't long enough to let their feet dangle down. Instead, they stick almost straight out - right into the back of the front seat. This means they're taking up leg room like a full sized adult or more. I can't imagine a 2 door working.
I reeeaalllly wanted a 2 door because I could have afforded a Rubi and I wanted the better breakover angle. My compromise was the JK. My 4 door is miles smaller than the Ford Expedition we traded in for it - no comparison. The 4 door is not a huge vehicle in the inside.
KEEP THE FOUR DOOR!

Keep the 4 Door.....your Wife will love you if you did!
Especially when she has to make a trip with the baby by herself! She won't be cussing your name for trading your 4 door for a 2 door while putting the baby in the car seat! Also, you will be able to hold onto the Jeep longer for your kids to get in and out of the vehicle.....As well the room...for stroller, baby bag, shopping bags will fit much easier in a 4 door vs 2 door!
Experience....had to trade a 2 door coupe for a 4 door Wagon....due to kids!
