Default Trading in an '07 for a new model

I am thinking of trading in my '07 Sahara for a new Sahara. I missed out on the lifetime drive train warranty and the deals are there to be made.

Any issues with the new Jeeps I should know about? Is everyone happy with the '09s? Would you buy again? I really haven't had too many problems with the '07, other than leaks and my lock set falling out of the passenger side door.

I did the same thing. My '07 had missing paint at the hinges, rust. It had the power issue that was after all the recalls so the dealer wouldn't install the flash saying it had the newest update. I may be crazy, but the '09 seems like it is put together better. No rattles, paint where there is suppose to be paint. Maybe it's my imagination. I like it way better.

I've been debating trading mine in too. I'm around the three year mark that I owe but the rates seem so good. The value hasn't gone down that bad either. The hard part is that I finally put new wheels on mine in March and have done a lot of other things too recently. I know that I can re-do but I don't want to re-buy things that I have already bought

Put it back to stock, trade it in, put parts on new jeep. voila. Unless you sold your stock parts.

I personally think this is a terrible decision. The lifetime powertrain is not worth it. You'll almost always surely lose a little as far as values go.

I can't understand why so many people trade cars so often. Just seems like you always lose your ass if you buy new cars all the time. Maybe theres some trick Of course, I'm biased because I plan on keeping my JK forever.

I'm with you, Jack. Of course, not my business what other folks do ... but I like paying cash for my vehicles after I save up for them*. That means I usually get them about half price--that is because my invested money appreciates and because of the savings from not paying finance charges. Now, just consider what $12K-14K can do in the way of mod's, folks!

* If for no other reason, the look on the financing guy's face when he asks, "How do you plan to finance this?" and you respond, "Well, I was wondering if you'd take a personal check, or would you rather it be certified?" is priceless.

all the way to the bank!

I've thought about the return to stock, I kept most of the stuff. I have gotten rid of a few things but they can be replaced pretty easily. Ebay, Craigslist jk-forum all great places that I spend a lot of time on

Even though I maintain mine meticulously, the Northeast can chew em' up pretty quick. I like to turn them before they start to show any signs of rust crap etc. Definately don't like having a payment but have become accustomed to it.

Would love to be able to pay cash, but not with my job currently.

I agree. My 07 was bought back as a lemon and replaced with an 09. My experience has been that the 09 was built even worse than the 07. It is most certainly luck of the draw. If you think the 09 is going to be better you are going to be mistaken. It is more than likely going to have every single problem your 07 had. I also could care less about the lifetime warranty. It's amazing how many people are attracted to marketing.
