Default Undercoating and rust

Just bought a brand new 2011 Sahara Unlimited and noticed slight surface rust on both bolts and around the frame hole where the rear bumper is mounted to these bolts. I did not get my undercarriage coated. Is this a normal thing with Jeeps? My TJ had severe rusting on the rear frame and I think this one is going to also someday.

It is too late to get it properly undercoated once rust has surfaced. Just let it be and hit it with spay spray paint on the parts you can see

It's part of my spring maintenance plan... get it on the lift, wash everything as good as I can, hit the rust with scotch brite pads as good as I can, then take the rustoleum flat black to every thing!!!!!!
I hate rust!!!

I get mine sprayed yearly as part of the Krown Rust protection program...great product...what's important is not the rust that you can see but preventing what you can't see from the inside out......a good oil spray yearly will keep your Jeep rust free and looking new for many years...make sure they drill holes and get inside all panels including the windshield frame. I have the same product in a spray can to re-apply to problem areas periodically due to powerwashing the undercarriage. Rustoleum also works to hit the spots that occur on suspension components.

I am very " RUST RETENTIVE " so i went to the extreme and had the entire interior Line-x'd as well so the tub stays rust free for life. My Rubi is 3 years old and looks better than the day i took it off of the lot!!

When I bought mine last year, I noticed the bare metal surfaces were just begining to get rusty. The drive shaft, steering knuckles, and every nut & bolt among other things are totally vulnerable out of the factory.

I went ahead and wirebrushed all the rust off, followed with Rustoleum semi-gloss, then finished with Boeshield T-9 to not only the undercarriage, but the entire engine as well. The exhaust got 1200°F ceramic paint and the muffler got BBQ paint.

I'm going to look into that Rust Check. I have to do my Jeep and my husbands Xterra before we move to Oregon.
